Photography connects us. Translations in PortfolioReach

Write in your own language and meet other creators. Translations in PortfolioReach help you understand posts, comments, profile bios and listings.

We want everyone to be able to communicate in the language they feel most at home in — and understand others. That might be your native language, the one you use at work, or simply the one that makes it easiest to express a thought. Photography brings people together from different places. Language differences should not stop a conversation that could lead to a collaborative photo shoot, a new project or a new connection.

That is why PortfolioReach offers translations of user content. It is a simple feature with an important purpose: making it easier to discover people and ideas, even when we use different languages in our daily lives.

Write your way, discover others

A photograph can catch your attention without a single word. Yet it is often the description that tells its story, a comment that starts a conversation, or a few lines about the creator that inspire a collaboration. We want to make this part of getting to know someone easier, too.

As you browse the Feed, you can translate posts, along with their comments and replies. Translations also help you understand comments on photos and the bio of someone whose profile you are exploring. When you are looking for opportunities to work together, you can also translate the titles and descriptions of castings, workshops and travel notices. That makes it easier to find out who is looking for collaborators, what an event is about or who is planning a visit to your city.

Translation when you need it

Once you are signed in, select “Translate” next to supported content. The translation appears at your request, and you can return to the author's text with “Show original”. You can set a default translation language in your account settings or use your current interface language.

The author still writes in their own way, and you can read their words in a language you feel more comfortable with. Machine translation helps you understand the message, although it may not capture every nuance — when arranging a collaboration, it is worth asking about anything that remains unclear.

More languages, more opportunities to create together

The feature currently supports the languages available on the site: Polish, English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Czech and Ukrainian. You can choose the language you find most comfortable to read, regardless of where the author is from.

We want to gradually expand the range of languages available across the site and for translations, so that as many people as possible can use PortfolioReach in their native language. Our ambition is to reach almost everyone who wants to create, share their work and get to know others. We will introduce more languages as the platform grows.

A shared passion for photography can be the start of a conversation. We want to help keep that conversation going — even across language barriers.
