Import Instagram photos into your PortfolioReach portfolio

Instagram integration has been available on PortfolioReach for some time. PortfolioReach connects a professional Instagram Business or Creator account through the official Instagram API and displays its posts on your profile. Creators can also import selected photos directly into their SFW portfolio.

We believe this kind of connection should become standard on modeling platforms, for both creators and the brands using them. Building your presence on another platform should not mean manually downloading and re-uploading the same photos.

You already have photos from shoots, collaborations and projects on Instagram that show your style. PortfolioReach lets you connect a professional Instagram Business or Creator account, display its content on your profile and add selected photos to your SFW portfolio. You decide which posts appear in your Instagram gallery and which photos you want to save as separate works in your portfolio.

This is useful for building a model's portfolio, as well as showcasing the work of a photographer, makeup artist or another creator.

Start with Instagram when you sign up

“Start with Instagram” is already available on the registration form. Connect your professional Instagram account and PortfolioReach will suggest a username that you can change. When your account is created, it also adds a link to your Instagram on your profile, so you do not have to enter the same handle again.

Then complete your registration: enter your own email address, set a password and fill in the required details. Once you have confirmed your email and signed in, you can select Instagram photos for your SFW portfolio while completing your profile. Importing is optional, so you can skip this step and return to it later.

It is a convenient way to get started: you build your profile with Instagram already connected and your photos ready to choose from.

Connect your Instagram account

The integration works with professional Instagram Business or Creator accounts. The connection uses Instagram's official API and authorization screen. PortfolioReach does not ask you to enter your Instagram password in its own form.

If you already have a PortfolioReach account:

1. Sign in to PortfolioReach and open the Instagram tab on your profile, or go to Settings → Instagram.
2. Select “Connect Instagram” and approve the connection on Instagram.
3. When you return to PortfolioReach, browse the content from your connected account.

This integration does not support personal Instagram accounts. If you use one, you will need a professional account before connecting.

Up to 100 recent items on your profile

Once connected, PortfolioReach syncs up to 100 of the most recent media items available through Instagram's API and displays them in the Instagram tab. You do not have to add each item separately.

Your shoots and projects gain another place to be seen. Someone interested in working with you can explore your portfolio and Instagram posts in one place, from finished work to a look behind the scenes.

Clicking an item in the Instagram gallery takes visitors to the original post. PortfolioReach also helps people discover your Instagram account: interest in one photo can lead them to follow your next projects.

Show the work that best reflects your style

Your portfolio can show both your experience and the direction you want to take. Choose content that fits the projects and collaborations you most want to pursue.

On PortfolioReach, you can hide individual items from your public Instagram gallery and show them again later. This lets you shape the presentation around your current vision for your portfolio.

For example, a photographer focusing on portraits can show selected shoots, while a model building a beauty portfolio can highlight work in that area.

Hiding an item only changes its visibility in your Instagram gallery on PortfolioReach. The original post stays on Instagram.

Add selected photos to your SFW portfolio

Add selected work from Instagram straight to your PortfolioReach portfolio. This feature is already available to creator profiles with an SFW portfolio.

In the Instagram tab, look for “Add photos to your portfolio”. Click the green plus on a supported photo to add it. To add several photos, use “Select photos”, choose the items you want and confirm that you want to add them to your SFW portfolio.

Selected photos are added to your public SFW portfolio. Choose content suitable for this part of your profile that you have the right to publish. The same publishing and moderation rules apply as when uploading photos normally.

Copying currently supports individual photos from single-photo posts. Videos, Reels and photos from carousels are not supported by this feature. You can select several separate photo posts and add them together.

Once added, a photo works like the other images in your portfolio: you can write a description, credit contributors, assign it to an album and manage it within PortfolioReach. Instagram captions, hashtags, likes and comments are not copied automatically.

Saved photos stay in your portfolio

The Instagram tab displays content linked to your connected account and leads to the original posts. Adding a photo to your portfolio creates a separate copy on PortfolioReach that you can describe, organize and present.

Connecting your account or refreshing the gallery does not automatically add all its photos to your SFW portfolio. You choose which photos to save.

A copy added to your portfolio stays there even after you disconnect Instagram. If you want to remove it, you can do so directly in your portfolio. Hiding an item in the Instagram tab does not hide its separate portfolio copy either.

See how the PortfolioReach community responds

Your work can also interest creators who first discover you on PortfolioReach. Likes in the Instagram gallery reflect this community's reactions and are separate from the like and comment counts coming from Instagram.

A like on PortfolioReach expresses interest here; it does not add a like to the original Instagram post. This makes it clear which community a reaction comes from.

Refresh or disconnect your account

To update the content in your gallery, use “Refresh media”. If the connection needs authorization again, you can choose “Reconnect” in your Instagram settings.

To disconnect, go to Settings → Instagram → Disconnect. This removes the connection and Instagram gallery data from PortfolioReach. Your original Instagram posts remain, as do the photos you previously saved to your SFW portfolio.

Disconnecting within PortfolioReach does not itself revoke the app's permissions on Instagram or Meta. You can also manage app access in those services' settings.

What comes next for the integration?

We are working on the next stage of the integration, bringing portfolio presentation together with the everyday work of maintaining an Instagram presence. We want to make it easier to prepare posts, reply to messages and check the performance of your own posts, all from PortfolioReach.

We have already introduced “Start with Instagram”, photo selection during profile setup, and the “Censor editor” above your portfolio. In the editor, you can prepare and download a separate version of your own photo while preserving the original. You decide whether to share it; the editor does not publish it on Instagram, and the resulting version must still comply with the service's rules.

In the next stages, we plan to add:

• Publishing to your own Instagram — prepare your photo, adjust the crop and write a caption, including a bilingual one, within PortfolioReach. Preview the finished post and choose whether to publish it immediately or schedule it for later. Each item and publishing time will require your approval.
• Instagram messages in PortfolioReach — access new conversations and send text replies from one place, within the functionality Instagram makes available.
• Optional account and post statistics — a more convenient view of how your own posts perform, helping you plan what to do next.
• Signing in to an existing account with Instagram — extending the option to start registration with Instagram that is already available.

These capabilities are part of our development plan and are not yet available. We will release them in stages once the work is complete and the required Meta permissions have been obtained. Publishing, messaging and statistics features are intended to be enabled when you choose to use them.

We are also considering an easier way to choose an album during import and support for more media types. We will share updates as new capabilities become available.

Choose the photos that best show your style and give people looking for collaborators a reason to explore your work. Connecting Instagram to PortfolioReach helps you turn individual posts into a thoughtful presentation of what you create.

Sign up using “Start with Instagram” or open the Instagram tab on your PortfolioReach profile and choose the first photos for your portfolio.
